Backstory:

Marguerite and Walter Linden were married in 1922 around the time this photo was taken. Marge, the child of German immigrants, married Walter, the son of Swedish immigrants. Both were from the East Side and would remain in that neighborhood. They would live on Avenue F and had three children. Walter, a police officer, died young at 31. Marge would work as a seamstress at Gassman’s Department store on 92nd St in South Chicago. At least one of their children would work in the steel mills. The Linden/Leo family donated a number of family photographs to the Museum.
