Teenage girls band

Date Created: undated

Donor: James Sulski, James Fitzgibbons

Media Type: Photograph

Backstory:

Music was an important part of Southeast Chicago’s cultural scene and was featured during many individual and community social events, including weddings, reunions, anniversaries, church celebrations, neighborhood festivals, and dinner dances. Various groups drew upon musical traditions from their communities of origin and speciality bands played in polka, tamburitza, mariachi, blues, or other traditions. This unidentified photograph was presumably of a school or church band given the priest positioned in the center
