Food traditions from countries of origin have been central to the diverse immigrant groups that historically settled in Southeast Chicago. Such foods continue to be featured during religious celebrations, holidays, and other events. Ethnic cookbooks were often published as fundraising activities by church groups. The Serbian Sisters were affiliated with St. Archangel Michael Orthodox Church. This cookbook was published in 1977 and contains popular Serbian recipes as well as descriptions of Serbian Christmas and Easter traditions.
